So... what did happen in November ???
The Melbourne Cup, where we have the impression that Melbourne is the place of a big wedding, the soccer game France-Irlande, seen in a irish pub packed of irish people but only 2 or three french people each time, the visit of Deborah (friend of my brother's girlfriend), a bit of work, more work, the end of Moevember - i confess to have worn the moe only a day... - and some nights out, and more nights out...

So, what's up since last time ?
First, we - finally?- got Internet: My previous roomates, a (young) australian couple has been replaced by an Irish couple, that i know since March/April, when i was staying in the same backpacker... Until the 2010 World Cup's playoff, everything is going fine, untill now... And since they wished to have Internet, i took care about the setting up.
Then, Nicolas, who already came to visit me when i was in Norway, and in Cameroon (with Maé), was in Melbourne between the 16th and 24th of October. he first discovered the night life in Melbourne - i should have been a not too bad guide, then, the city alone the first days (i had to work a bit...) and then we rent a car and hit the Great Ocean Road (again) and the Grampians National Park (new!). We saw koalas and kangaroos, so Nicolas was happy. Soon the pictures.
October in Australia, especially in Melbourne, is the month of the horses' races, whose "Final" is the Mebourne Cup. So, with Camille and Martial, we'll head tomorrow to
THE Melbourne's Cup Day, holiday in the State of Victoria, in Flemington for the day.
The australians do really care about these races, and they make a huge effort to be well dressed, from feet to head (hat included).
Finally, November has come, and in Melbourne, it is called
Movember : almost every man let grow for this month their moustache... Martial and me will try to honour this habit ! :-)

Vendredi musique

- Music for Strings, Percussion and Celese, de Bartók (ça vous rappelle quelque chose ?

Friday 02, last concert of the "promotional pack" bought in July with Martial and Camille. Martial working those night, after a nice pizza in a good italian restaurant on Federation Square, we went to the Arts Center with Camille around 7.45pm. The Program was the following :
- the "world premiere"
Re-collecting ASTORoids written by Elena Kats-Chernin, Tribute to Astor Piazzola, written especialy for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, which played 3 of the 5 movements.
- Music for Strings, Percussion and Celese, de Bartók (Yes, i already saw this piece at the Opera House in March!!!)
- and the Symphonie N.6 in B minor, op. 74 of Tchaikovski, called Pathétique.
Extract of the comment written in the program :
The [third] movement's applause-provoking conclusion [...]
Just as a reminder, in a classical concert, the public generally applause at the end of a concerto (usually 3 movements) or of a symphony (usually 4 movements) and not between. And guess what ? At the end of the third movement, everybody applaused (me too, even if i started 15 secondes after - because first i have read the texte before :-) but did not count the movements - that explains the 15 secondes hesitation...) !
After the concert, music again, with the DJ Erol Alkan who was mixing at the
Sorry Grandma(Thank you Alasdair). End of the night "as usual" around 4.30am on saturday...

Too easy: Un peu pareil que le "No Worries".
For a french guy in Australia since almost one year, to be able to "really understand" some "common words expressions" is a bit fun. My "best of" :
No Worries "No problem, i will do it... later"
Too Easy "No problem, consider it already done !", but in the end, it is not done...
Fair Enough "yeah, yeah, i don't really care about what you say..."
and my beloved one :
Make Sense "i did not understand what you just said, but i will pretend to..."

Un an...

Next week, we will go to the two first concerts (of a package of three) : Beethoven and Elgar on the monday Wagner and Strauss on Friday.
The third one is a bit later, in october. Funny thing, i already saw the Bartok piece at.. The Opera House in Sydney In March !

A fourth concert is tempting me, in december

After my only one swim last month, i'm back in a swimming pool with my friend Martial. We change the swimming pool, and i discover - after the Melbourne City Baths - the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Center and his pool of 50 meters' length ! Last thursday, i was not able to swim more than 2 laps in a row, but monday it was a bit better.
With "Marchiaul" - english way of saying is name ;-) !!! - we even buy a membership card and a 20 entries pass. we will try to go there more often.

Melbourne

Melbourne is getting a new logo : 240 000$ where spend to get this M as the new image of Melbourne. Is this letter the most expensive one in the alphabet ?

Voyager

J'aimerais parfois m'arrêter
Trouver un endroit où rester
Mais je n'aime que voyager
Et je ne fais que passer

Parfois j'ai envie de stopper
Soit que je rencontre un ami
Ou que je me sente endormi
Je stationne un peu par ici
Car il faut des fois un accord
Entre la peur et le confort
Entre la voile et puis le port
Entre la vie et puis la mort

J'aime beaucoup trop le mouvement
Et ne serait-ce qu'un instant
Je n'ose jamais me surprendre
Je n'arrive jamais à me rendre
Et je ne fais jamais que passer
Je ne fais jamais que passer

Parfois j'ai envie de stopper
Soit que je rencontre un ami
Ou que je me sente endormi
Je stationne un peu par ici
Car il faut des fois un accord
Entre la peur et le confort
Entre la voile et puis le port
Entre la vie et puis la mort

J'aimerais parfois m'arrêter
Trouver un endroit où rester
Mais je n'aime que voyager
Et je ne fais que passer

Grippe et grippe porcine...

Reçu aujourd'hui, dans ma messagerie professionnelle :

From : C.E.O
To : All the company
Subject : Flu and swine Flu

Hi Everyone

As everyone is aware the flu season is here. At present the main differences between normal flu and swine flu is the very high level of contagion and no one is immune to swine flu unlike some of the other variants – the impacts may change if the swine flu virus mutates.

As our business relies heavily on people it is in
the Company interest (and hence in yours) to limit as far as possible those of us who are sick – so –

· As indicated previously
the Company will pay out of pocket expenses associated with flu injections – please send Scott your receipts with your expense claim.

· If you have flu or flu symptoms please stay away from work. You only need to see the doctor once for a “certificate” –and you should see a doctor anyway if you have “flu” symptoms .

· Please be extra careful with personal hygiene – wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and dry with paper towels. Use tissues to cover coughs and sneezes. Cloth handtowels have been removed from
the Company’s toilets.

· Please be extra careful with kitchen hygiene - especially with anything that is shared – cups, glasses etc should be properly washed in hot water with detergent. Prologic has made some changes to help – chux are now to be used as tea-towels & will be replaced daily, and there is disinfectant bench cleaner in the kitchen.

· More information is available at: www.pandemic.tas.gov.au . If you get sick with a fever together with a cough, or a sore throat, or a blocked or runny nose, and you think you may have been exposed to Swine Flu then you should ring 1800 358 362.

Thank you all for your help with this.

Stay well!

I finally signed two contracts - one until the 10th september, end of my first visa, and the second one until march 2010 (that means i'll have to apply for an extension...) ! So i get a job ! But the contract guarantees me to work at least 16h a week. Then, my work of may for several customers - meetings, and deliveries - has been paid !! Youhou !
And i have also my work's schedule for june : i should work 17 days, with 2 days in Sydney, and two days in Brisbane !
But i had to buy some clothes, too, and my credit card is not really happy about that...
