Is this the end ?

Des nouvelles, enfin !
Depuis février, quelques petites choses ont brisé aléatoirement la routine.
D'abord, les concerts de février ont valu leur pesant de cacahuètes ! J'ai bien aimé Nigel Kennedy, qui fait son petit numéro sur scène - et meme shooté à la fin du concert dans un ballon de foot à destination du public - et AC/DC ensuite. Mars et Avril se sont déroulés tranquillement, puis mai fut arrivé, avec au début du mois, le concert des Vampire Weekend, avec Jérémy, puis nous Camille, Klara, Alasdair, Jérémy, Martial et moi avons "fait partie de l'histoire" en assistant à l'inauguration du nouveau stade à Melbourne, le AAMI Park Stadium.

Enfin, à nouveau avec Jérémy (et ses collègues), j'ai assisté au match qui n'avait rien d'amical de préparation à la coupe du monde entre la Nouvelle-Zélande et l'Australie, dont voici un résumé :


Enfin, j'ai libéré mon appartement de Flinders Lane, et Camille et Martial m'accueillent jusqu'à mon départ en leur demeure.
So since February a little Few events have broken the daily life. First, the two concerts in february that i really enjoyed.
Then, nothing special - well, that i remember, at least, - until beginning of may, when i went with Jérémy to the Vampire Weekend's concert. Then, we have been "part of the history", with the inaugural NRL Test Match between Australia and New-Zealand. Then, the last World Cup Preparation Game in Australia, again against New-Zealand.
And finally, my moving out of the flat in flinders lane, for what may be my last month in Australie.

Semaine Culturelle...

Ce que j'aime, à Melbourne, c'est que c'est une ville pleine d'activités,







et aussi de surprises.

Les activités au programme cette semaine prochaine sont les suivantes :





La bonne surprise concerne la première activité :
Jeudi dernier, je voulais acheter en ligne des places, mais un petit souci de mémoire concernant mon numéro de carte bancaire a rendu la tache impossible. De fait, je me suis donc déplacé ce vendredi aux Arts Center, afin d'y acheter ma place.
Dans mon esprit, je voulais une place "dans l'avant dernière catégorie" - pas la moins chère, mais juste celle d'au dessus (à 110$ la place).
Arrivé au guichet, la vendeuse me présente des places dispos dans la catégorie d'encore au dessus (à 135$). Et voici le discours qu'y s'ensuit.
"Et là, ces places, elle sont à combien ?
- Vous me croyiez si je vous dit 40$ ??
- PARDON ??????
- vous me croyez si je vous dis 40$ ??
- [gros éclat de rire] HA HA HA ! Bonne blague ! Non, j'y crois pas !
- Et pourtant, c'est vrai
- ok, alors j'en prends 10 !!! Comment ça se fait qu'elles sont à 40$ ??
- Offre spéciale uniquement pour aujourd'hui et demain. Ils veulent remplir la salle!
- Bon ben d'accord, je prends les deux places !!!"



Pour la petite histoire, Martial qui m'avait accompagné lors de l'achat des places, mais n'en avait pas acheté pour ce jour là car déjà occupé pour ce soir la, y est retourné plus tard en acheté pour le concert de jeudi soir (et au départ a bien failli les payer 135$)

What I do like about Melbourne is the ability to do something almost every night, let say at least every week. This week will be a "cultural week" as I am going to two different concerts : Nigel Kennedy on Friday and AC/DC on Saturday !
And concerning the Nigel Kennedy's concert, i did have a really nice surprise when i bought the tickets last week !
On Thursday, I tried to buy the tickets online, but a little lack of memory (about my credit card number) prevented me to do so. So i decided to go to the venue, and buy them directly there. I was aiming to buy tickets that were costing 110$. But when we looked for the tickets, the cashier show me places in the price's category above (135$). And then, here is what happens next :
"[Me, hesitating] Ok, so how much these tickets ?
- [cashier] Do you believe me if i tell you 40$ ?
- SORRY ???
- Do you believe me if i told you 40$ ???
- [Big laugh] Ha ha ! No, i don't !
- But this is it !
- Ok, i'll take 10 !!! How is it possible that it is only 40$ ?
- It's a special discount available only today and tomorrow, they just want to fill the room.
- Ok, i'll take these 2 !"

J'ai donc participé au cours Actor's Process du Victorian College of Arts, de Melbourne, la semaine dernière. Un rapide descriptif de ce cours se trouve ici, en dernière page...
Ça m'a bien donné envie de continuer à prendre des cours, et j'en étudie la faisabilité au regard de ce petit document.

Last week at the Victorian College of Arts, of Melbourne, was fun. A short summary of the Actor's Process course is here, on the last page...
I really enjoyed this week, and now i'm thinking about taking more course, just for fun... The short courses start on February, the first and i should enroll before the January the 25th, as it is said in this document.

Please accept this email as final confirmation of your registration in the School of Performing Arts’ (formerly VCA Drama) Summer School.

Your course, the Actor’s Process has been confirmed and runs Monday 11 to Friday 15 January 2010.

On the first day, Monday 11th, please come to the Drama School Reception at 28 Dodds St, Southbank no later than 9.30am as there is a brief registration and orientation before your first session.

Each day starts at 10am sharp and finishes at 4pm with lunch at 12 noon.

The morning is dedicated to specialist voice and physical classes, as these are the foundation instruments required for any acting skill development. The afternoon session is dedicated to your chosen course.

All classes commence promptly so please show respect by arriving early and being ready and prepared to start work on time. This will ensure a smooth flow and maximum learning for you and all.

We are very close to St Kilda Rd so public transport is a viable option; as parking is sometimes difficult to find. There is paid parking available under the Arts Centre. A campus map and map of the area is attached to assist you.

Your tutor has asked that you:
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing (ie not jeans) so you can fully participate in the classes which are often quite physical
• Bring a notebook and pen for notes about activities and exercises you undertake

In terms of sustenance, the campus café will be open with a limited range of food and drinks available or please feel welcome to byo lunch; otherwise there is an IGA near the Malthouse (5 mins down the road) and ACCA next to this makes reasonably priced, good organic coffee.

Freddy Mercury et moi...

Un (deuxième) anniversaire en Australie.

Après avoir soufflé ma 27e bougie à Pemberton, c'est à Melbourne que j'ai célébré mon anniversaire cette année. La journée a commencé à Hobart (Tasmanie), où j'étais la veille pour participer au repas d'entreprise de noel, et au cours duquel un de mes responsable m'a sorti que si je voulais rester après juillet, je n'avais qu'à demander à l'entreprise un visa sponsorship...
Donc, réveillé tôt le matin (6h30) à Hobart pour aller prendre l'avion.
Arrivé à l'aéroport vers 8h et des brouettes, pour un vol prévu à 8h50.
Arrivé ensuite sur Melbourne, vers 10h, et début d'une journée marathon : un déménagement : Camille et Martial ont choisi ce we là pour déménager de leur appartement sur St Kilda Road, pour une petite maison à Albert Park...
Donc, d'environ 11h jusqu'à 17h30, déménagement, cartons, pick-up, etc.
Ensuite, passage à mon appartement, vers 18h, pour une douche rapide, avant d'aller au concert du jour ! Je retrouve d'abord Camille et Martial, avec lesquels je vais au concert, à leur ancien appartement...
Puis direction le concert, dans la salle du Hammer Hall, du Arts Centers. Au programme : le Messiah d'Haendel ! Martial pionce pendant la première et la troisième partie du concert, mais sinon moi j'ai beaucoup aimé. Le public a meme respecté la tradition de se lever pour le morceau "Hallelujah". Impressionnant.
Puis ensuite, restaurant vietnamien, où nous rejoindra Alasdair, puis longue soirée melbournienne nocturne...
Le lendemain, fin du déménagement, puis un premier barbeque le soir pour inaugurer la petite cour de la maison des Roth, avec remise de quelques présents de leur part et de celle de Alasdair.

Pemberton was the place where i celebrated my 27th birthday, Melbourne was the one of the 28th. The day started in Hobart (Tasmania), where i was from the night before, for my Company's Christmas Dinner.
An early start in the morning (6.30am) in Hobart to take the plane back to Melbourne.
8.00am at the airport, flight around 8.50.
Landed in Melbourne, around 10.00am, and beginning of a "marathon's day" : Camille and Martial chosed this week-end to move from their flat in St Kilda Road, for a little house in Albert Park...
So, from 11.00am until 5.30pm, moving in, pick-up, etc.
Then, short come back to my flat, around 6.00pm, for a quick shower, before going to the concert of the day ! I met first Camille and Martial, with whom i go to the concert, at their previous place...
A bit late, we took a cab to go to the Hammer Hall, of the Arts Centers. The program : The Messiah of Handel ! Martial sleeps during the first and third part of the concert, but i did really like it. The audience even stand on the invitation of the conductor to respect the tradition for the "Hallelujah" piece.. Impressing..
Then, vietnamese restaurant, where Alasdair joined us, and then, long Melbournian night...
The day after, end of the moving in, and then, first BBQ the evening, as a small "backyard warming" party, with also some present from Camille and Martial, and Alysdair, to me.
